We have a range of classes for all ages, and below you can find some more details about each
For primary age and younger students, we have an informative video called Harry’s First Martial Arts Lesson which explains what to expect at a first session
Dragon Tots (ages 3-4)
This is a pre-school half hour class every Tuesday and Thursday at 2pm. Due to their ages, it is a parent participation class where an adult assists and supports the child on the mat.
Little Dragons (ages 4-6)
These classes are 45 minutes in duration and are a martial arts based class working on age appropriate skills. Once students reach age 7, students move up into our Junior Ju Jitsu class and we move the students up into the Junior class all together in either March, July and November.
Junior Ju Jitsu (ages 7-15)
This is our self defense class where students begin to take formal gradings every four months. See our section on Grading Information for more details. Once the students reach brown belt, the last step before their black belt, they must increase their training by attending Master Class too at our Accrington Academy, where they will be taught under Professor Martin Dixon (9th dan). In the approach to their 16th birthday, students can begin to acclimatise themselves for the move from Junior class by attending our Adult Ju Jitsu sessions
Teens Class (ages 12-15)
We appreciate that some older children would prefer not to train around younger children, so we give them more space to flourish in our Friday night and Saturday dinnertime Teens class.
Junior Competition Class
Students can subscribe to this extra session every Monday, to improve upon their competition skills. We train students in Continuous Fighting, Random Attacks, Kata and the use of weapons. It’s a great chance to apply Ju Jitsu skills in a pressure situation.
Adults Ju Jitsu (age 16 & above)
We have a variety of day and evening classes to suit a number of different circumstances. The sessions are mixed and are for all abilities, from beginners to advanced students. Formal gradings take place every 5 months. See our section on Grading Information for more details.
Ladies Only (age 16 & above)
This class is to encourage our ladies to participate in an environment and space they can call their own.
Fifty +
There is no upper age range, but some students approaching age fifty may wish to pursue our 50+ syllabus which is less impactive than the adult syllabus
Adults Competition Class
Students can subscribe to this extra session every Tuesday, to improve upon their competition skills. We train students in Continuous Fighting, Random Attacks, Kata and the use of weapons. It’s a great chance to apply Ju Jitsu skills in a pressure situation.
